The banks of the estuary house many small inlets and approximately half a mile along the footpath the view opens up right down to the Hamble’s mouth with Southampton Water.

Once working clay pits, Swanwick Lakes now nestle in peaceful 36 hectare wooded landscape. There are over 2 miles of paths around the lakes and woods, with over 1 mile of surfaced marked trails around this Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust reserve. It’s home to many uncommon kinds of wildlife such as great crested newts, nightingales and mining bees – and there’s a range of family-friendly events on throughout the year.
